Fluency (reading speed) is an important part of being a good reader. The minimum goals for fluency for second grade are as follows:
Beginning of year- 60 words per minute
Middle of year- 70 words per minute
End of the year- 85 words per minute
Poetry- lines, stanzas, rhyme, rhythm, imagery, alliteration, acrostic poems, haiku, couplets
Adverbs- words that describe verbs

helps practice math facts. Mathletics practices math facts and other math skills. Math Fact Cafe lets you print out fact sheets as well as other skills including money and time.

The Friday Word Study Quiz is over the 10 words above and counts as a daily grade. The 5 challenge words are optional. They do not count as part of the grade. A 10-stick is awarded if all 5 are written correctly.
