School and Classroom Policies
Snack Time
We have snack time daily mid morning. If you choose to send a snack to school with your child, please make sure that it is healthy, not messy, and does not require utensils to eat. Some snack ideas: cheese, fresh fruit, crackers, vegetables, pretzels, goldfish. Please no dips, Gogurt, or applesauce (pouches or cups) as these can be messy and spill on the carpet. Thank you!

Water Bottles
Please send a water bottle with your child daily.  To prevent spills, bottles with a sports top lid are preferred.

Birthday Treats
Birthday treats will be passed out in the cafeteria at the end of lunch.
The treats need to be store bought (state mandated).
Birthday treats can only be passed out to the students in our classroom. Please do not bring extra for friends in other classes. (we have 19 students in section 25)
Make sure all birthday treats are precut or in individual servings: cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc.

If your 2nd grader is not yet able to tie their own shoes, then please make this a priority to work on at home with them!
Please make sure your child wears closed toed shoes every day for P.E.

Transportation Changes
Students may only have one mode of transportation home. If you need to change your child's transportation, please send a note in the morning of the change. If you need to make a change during the school day, please make the change with the front office before 2:00pm

Please know that we encourage and welcome visitors at Galatas. When visiting during lunch, please understand that we only have enough room for 24 students at each table. We do have a special reserved area for students to sit with their parents when they choose to visit during lunch. The table is located in the center of the cafeteria. In the event that the reserved table is full, your child will sit at their assigned table and we kindly ask that you stand behind them if there is no room to sit next to them. Thanks for your understanding in this matter!
