K2 News!
Class Calendar
We had another great week in K2!
The kids enjoyed studying seeds and observing all the different kinds that were brought in. Thank you for your help with this!

It is hard to believe that this is the last week before Spring Break and my last week before going on maternity leave. It is going to be bittersweet for me come Friday for sure. I have loved every minute of this school year and your kids have been absolutely wonderful! I cannot thank you enough for all your help and support. They will be in great hands and I know they will have a fabulous last grading period with Mrs. Smith!

Homework will be sent home with your child every Monday. Please have your child do as much as they can individually and offer them guidance as needed. Pencil is preferred! Return homework to school each Friday.

In addition to homework that is sent home weekly, it is essential to read at home every day! Read to your child so they learn what fluent reading sounds like and practice comprehension skills. Also, have your child read to you. Make sure they are reading just right books for them! Starting in October, students will be bringing home books from school and these books are on their developmental reading level.

Thank you for helping your child be the best possible student and learner they can be! We want them to reach their highest potential!
Other Important Info.
About Mrs. Malden
Wish List Items:
Box Tops

 - Have your child keep their library books in their backpacks when they are not reading them!  That way they will have them on Library day.

  - **Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate shoes to school.  They should not wear flip flops, sandals, high heeled shoes, etc.  They go to PE and recess daily and need to have shoes that keep their feet protected and allow them to run, climb, etc.

Please remember to check your child's red PAWS folder every day for important notes and information, the daily behavior sheet, your turn on the snack calendar, and class work. This folder needs to come to school every day!  Also remember to put a change of clothes in a Ziploc bag (labeled with your child's name) in your child's backpack.  You never know when a change of clothes will be needed!

     - Please send healthy snacks when it is your turn to provide the snack and check the calendar for your day.  If you miss your day please remember to send the snack in afterward to add to our snack basket.  I can not serve cookies, cakes, candy, etc. unless it is a birthday treat.   Please see the page in your Welcome to Kindergarten packet that you received at parent orientation for a list of appropriate snack choices.

Box Tops for Education:
Also, remember to collect Box Tops for Education!! They will be collected each month throughout the school year.  I give the students happy sticks for bringing them to school!
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Ever since I could remember, I wanted to go to The University of Texas (Hook 'em Horns) and become an elementary teacher. My dreams came true and I graduated in 2010! I started teaching Kindergarten at Galatas in 2011 and this will be my 6th year. Teaching is my passion and I could not imagine spending my career doing anything else. I love waking up in the morning knowing I get to make a difference in so many kids' lives each day!

This summer, my husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary! We live here in The Woodlands and have a little dog named Sadie who is 3 years old. Needless to say, we are quite smitten with her and she is our baby. I am sure your child will come home with many stories about Sadie that I have shared.

My mom lives here in the Woodlands and is a teacher at David Elementary! I have an older brother who lives in Austin and works for BP and a younger sister who is starting her junior year at The University of Texas (Hook 'em Horns \m/ ). When I am not teaching, I enjoy trying out new recipes, especially anything sweet. I also enjoy watching college football and spending time with family and friends!
