We recommend that students are reading a minimum of 20 minutes each night and recording the title of the book read on the homework recording sheet. Please make sure your child records the title themselves.

Parents, please check over your child's homework at the end of the week and help them correct any mistakes. After checking, please sign at the top of the page. Thanks!

Please help your child practice their word study words each week. Challenge words will be graded for happy sticks only.

Homework Pass: when a student has earned a no homework pass, please staple the pass to the homework and turn it in on Friday.

Homework is due Friday morning and a completion grade will be given. 10 points will be deducted for every day that homework is late. A 0 will be given after the third day it is late.

Please know that we encourage and welcome visitors at Galatas. When visiting during lunch, please understand that we only have enough room for 24 people at each table. You and your child will sit together at their class table and we kindly ask that you stand behind them if there is no room to sit next to them. Thanks for your understanding in this matter!

Snack Time
Snacks must be of the healthy variety. Some appropriate snack ideas are: apple slices, grapes, veggies, cheese, crackers etc. Please do not send any dips or anything that requires a spoon or fork.

Water is the only drink that is allowed in the classroom. Please send a water bottlewith your child daily. Water bottles must have a sports top lid to prevent spills.

Birthday Treats
Birthday treats will be passed out in the cafeteria at the end of lunch.
The treats need to be store bought (state mandated)
Birthday treats can only be passed out to the students in our classroom. Please do not bring extra for friends in other classes. (we have 19 students in section 24)
Please make sure the treats are easy to pass out as your child will be responsible for handing them out to their friends.
Individual servings are best: cookies, brownies, cupcates etc

Transportation Changes
Students may only have one mode of transportation home.
If you need to change your child's transportation, please send a note in the morning of the change. If you need to make a change during the school day, please make the change wiht the front office before 2:00pm

Checks
Any checks turned into school MUST include a driver's license number and date of birth. Your check will be returned if this information is missing. This is a district requirement and the bank will not accept any checks without this information.
